Julie Vreman is originally from Los Angeles, California and is both a prolific clarinet and saxophone teacher and performer. She attended the University of California, Irvine where she obtained her Bachelor of Music in Music Performance and was awarded the David Lee Shanbrom Memorial Scholarship. She moved to Boston for graduate school and earned her Master of Music degree from Boston University, also having been awarded a Boston University College of Fine Arts Scholarship. During her studies there, she subbed as second clarinet with the Boston Civic Symphony.
After completing her Master’s Degree, she was accepted to the Lausanne Conservatory in Switzerland where she earned her Master of Arts in Concert Performance. During her time abroad, Miss Vreman was actively teaching at several music schools such as the Conservatoire de la Broye, L’École de Musique d’Epalinges, L’Ecole de Musique de L’Avenir d’Yverdon-les-Bains and the International School of Lausanne, and served as a jury examiner for La Société Cantonale de Musiques Vaudoises. Also active as a performer, Miss Vreman was appointed second clarinet of both L’Opéra des Champs and L’Orchestre Symphonique de Bulle. She was a featured soloist with the Budweis Philharmonic during their summer festivals and also performed with them as principal clarinet. Additionally, she was the clarinetist for the Quinterrae Wind Quintet and served as both as a clarinetist and saxophonist in pit orchestras for various musicals.
Upon her return to the U.S., Miss Vreman was a Teaching Artist with the Young Musician’s Foundation and is currently a member of the Vienna Music Institute faculty where she has taught both clarinet and saxophone since 2016.
