2018-2019 Spring & Fall Seasons

Vienna Music Institute (VMI) is pleased to announce its 10th season of the Chamber Orchestra program. Students are placed according to their playing level into either Junior Chamber Orchestra or Senior Chamber Orchestra.

Audition Information

VMI Intermediate Chamber Orchestra
Level: Suzuki volume 3 to 5 (or equivalent)
1. Scale: 2 octave scale of your choice
2. Solo: 2-3 minute selection of any piece that best demonstrates your playing ability.
Accompaniment is not required.

 

VMI Advanced Chamber Orchestra
Level: Suzuki volume 5 and higher (or equivalent)
1. Scale: 3-4 octave scale of your choice
2. Solo: 2-3 minute selection of any piece that best demonstrates your playing ability.
Accompaniment is not required.

**The solo piece should accurately represent the candidate’s overall musicianship including technical facility and lyricism.**

Auditions will be held in September.

Rehearsal Dates & Times:
Both orchestras start on Saturday, September 15th, 2018. Both orchestras will meet every Saturday until the concert. **There will be 2-3 extra rehearsals scheduled on Sundays in November and December.**

Intermediate Orchestra Rehearsal Time: 2:00-4:00pm
Advanced Orchestra Rehearsal time: 6:30-8:30pm

Tuition & Fees:
$600 for candidates that participate in VMI Chamber Orchestra only.
$500 for candidates that participate in both VMI Chamber Orchestra and VMI Chamber Ensemble Class.

**Tuition & Fees are due upon registration after acceptance into the program.**
**There will be no refunds**

Concert Information

Location: Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church
Tentative Concert Date: Saturday, Dec 10th, 2017

The concert will be a joint performance featuring VMI Advanced Chamber Orchestra and VMI chamber groups.

Responsibilities

Attendance: Candidates that are accepted into the VMI Chamber Orchestra program are expected to attend all rehearsals. Unexcused absences and tardiness will result in dismissal from the program (two unexcused absences and three tardies).

Etiquette & Behavior: Musicians should be respectful towards other members and faculty. In extreme cases, disruptive behavior will result in dismissal from the program. Warnings will be issued prior and parents will be notified.
