Alfredo Ramirez is a clarinetist, educator, and arts advocate committed to expanding access to
music education and celebrating the rich traditions of Mexican regional music. He holds a
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from San José State University a Master of Music in
Performance and a Master of Arts in Arts Management from Colorado State University.
With a diverse background in orchestral, band, chamber, and Mexican Banda music, Alfredo has
built a career that bridges cultural and musical traditions. In 2016, he toured the United States
with Banda La Troyana as part of their Latin Grammy nomination for Best Banda Album,
deepening his commitment to preserving and promoting Mexican Banda music. In 2023, he
made history at the International Clarinet Association Conference (ClarinetFest), introducing the
clarinet’s role in Banda music through an inspiring lecture and performance, marking a
significant moment for the genre in an international setting. Alfredo has also appeared on
Univision and Televisa, using major media platforms to showcase his artistry and advocate for
the recognition of Mexican regional music in broader musical communities. In 2024, he
performed as a clarinetist with Banda La Patrona alongside the Colorado Symphony,
demonstrating the genre’s versatility in a symphonic setting. Beyond Banda, Alfredo has
performed with the Fort Collins Symphony and the Longmont Symphony, further highlighting
his versatility across multiple musical styles.
As an educator, Alfredo has taught music appreciation at the collegiate level, engaging students
in critical discussions on the historical and cultural dimensions of music. He has also developed
and led community-based music programs that provide free music lessons to Spanish-speaking
and low-income students, ensuring greater accessibility to music education. His work with
organizations such as Foundation Music School and Take Note Colorado reflects his
commitment to breaking down barriers in the arts and fostering inclusivity. Through his
performances, teaching, and advocacy, Alfredo continues to champion music as a tool for
cultural preservation, education, and social change, inspiring the next generation of musicians
while expanding access to music education.
