Jung Eun Kim is a pianist and collaborative artist whose career spans more than two decades
of performance and teaching across Korea, Canada, and the United States. At age nine, she
performed a Beethoven symphony with orchestra, an early milestone that revealed the
exceptional technique and ensemble sensitivity that would come to define her artistry. In
2001, she was selected to participate in a music camp in Montreal, Canada, where she
performed in recital — an early step in what would become an international career. She went
on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Master of Music in Collaborative
Piano from Kyung Hee University, and since 1999 has maintained a dual career as a private
piano instructor and sought-after collaborative pianist, working with students and professional
musicians of all levels.
Her foundation as a collaborative pianist was built through vocal repertoire: she studied and
performed art song repertoire from Italy, Germany, England, and the United States, and
accompanied opera productions including Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, and La
Traviata at her university’s summer opera festival. Alongside this vocal work, she collaborated
extensively with string players — violin, viola, cello, and double bass — as well as brass and
woodwind musicians, developing fluency across a wide range of musical styles and ensemble
settings. During her graduate studies in collaborative piano, she pursued in-depth research
into the essence of ensemble playing and musical interaction, a foundation that continues to
inform her work with instrumentalists and vocalists alike.
For over twenty years, Ms. Kim has served as Official Collaborative Pianist for the Horn
Studio at Seoul National University and the Horn Studio at Korea National University of Arts,
collaborating with students in annual recitals and international competitions. Alongside this
work with students, she has performed extensively with faculty at Korea National University of
Arts — including the Horn and Oboe faculty — in recitals featured on national radio and public
broadcast media each year. She has also partnered for many years with clarinetist Ho-sub
Song in recitals and broadcast appearances at Chugye University of Arts.
Her competition and international collaborative engagements include appointments as Official
Collaborative Pianist for the Osaka International Competition (2005–2007) and the Jeju
International Competition (2008–present). Since 2020, she has served as an official
collaborative pianist for the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared as guest pianist
with the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra and the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. Her
performances have been featured in national broadcasts on EBS Radio and KBS.In 2002, Ms. Kim was offered full-scholarship admission to graduate programs at both the
University of Southern California (USC) and the Manhattan School of Music’s Collaborative
Piano program. Since 2002, she has continued to perform in annual solo piano recitals,
further developing her voice as a soloist alongside her extensive collaborative career.
Ms. Kim currently resides in Southern California, where she continues to perform, teach, and
collaborate with musicians across genres and generations.
